_What Some Have _Said?

_Hi Ed,

_"Just wanted to tell you _again how very pleased I _am with the painting. _Even my sister and _brother-in-law were in _awe at how much it _looked like Shane & _Hobbes. You managed to _get Shane's expression _perfectly........ the _painting is hanging in our _family room where I can _see it even while I'm _watching TV. You did a _great job and I'll be sure _to recommend you to _everyone."

____Ed's artistic talents were recognized at an early age. He always had an eye for detail, perspective and composition. When Ed was in his early teens, he began taking art lessons with a local artist. Over several years his skills honed and his talents matured under the artist's tutelage.

____More importantly, he was introduced to the medium which would become his lifelong preference - oil paints! Ed initially painted strictly for his own pleasure and relaxation. He most frequently painted landscapes and seascapes. His home and those of his friends and relatives were generously decorated with Ed's artwork. Eventually Ed started showing his works at local art shows. In an attempt to personalize and market his paintings, he began to specialize in portraiture. One day a co-worker of his wife asked whether Ed could paint her bulldog. Other requests for pet portraits rapidly followed. These requests included cats and horses, but most were for dogs.

____AKC dog owners were impressed with Ed's ability to capture their dog's personality and expression.

____They recommended Ed market his paintings at AKC Dog Shows. The dog lovers at these shows appreciate Ed's pain staking attention to detail, which results in a spectacular portrait of their dog, rather than a generic rendering of their dog's breed. These discerning clients have often recognized by name the dogs on Ed's portraits!

How it's done...

____An issue that seems to be coming up frequently is that people ask whether Ed projects the picture on the canvas. It’s important to stress that each of these oil paintings are hand sketched and painted in the tradition of all fine artists. Hours of effort are spent to render both the markings and expression of each portrait.
